Sunset Lake Park By-Law

TOWN OF WEMBLEY

BY-LAW NO. 640

 

 

A by-law of the Town of Wembley, in the Province of Alberta, to provide rules, regulations and penalties for contravention , in Sunset Lake Park.

 

WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Wembley deems it expedient to establish rules and regulations and

penalties for contravention of the rules and regulations, at Sunset Lake Park located at S200 feet of Block E

and all of Block F, Plan 631 E.O.

 

THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED under and by virtue of the authority conferred upon Council by the Municipal Government Act, Chapter M-26 Revised Statutes of Alberta , 2000 and amendments thereto, the Traffic Safety Act, Chapter T-6, Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000 and amendments thereto, and the Forest and Prairie Protection Act, Chapter F-19, Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000 and amendments thereto, that the following rules, regulations and penalties apply to the control and operation of Sunset Lake Park as hereinbefore mentioned.

 

RULES

A.  maximum length of stay is fourteen (14) consecutive days;

B.  maximum occupancy is one (1) camping unit and one (1) motor vehicle per campsite;

C.  maximum of 6 people per campsite except larger family units, in which case, Park Caretaker approval is

      required;

D.  immediate occupancy of campsite;

E.  snowmobiles and/or all-terrain vehicles are prohibited;

F.  speed limit within the Park to be restricted to 10 km;

G.  no livestock permitted in the Park

H.  first come, first served, no reservations

I.  checkout time is 2:00 p.m.

 

VIOLATIONS OF ONE OR MORE OF THESE RULES IS GUILTY OF AN OFFENCE AND LIABLE TO A FINE OF NOT LESS THAN $100.00.  THE FINE FOR AN OFFENCE UNDER THESE RULES MAY BE PAID VOLUNTARILY.

 

REGULATIONS

 

1.  The fees for use of Sunset Park are set out in Schedule A of this By-law.  Any person who contravenes these regulations is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

2.  Liquor consumption and possession in designated campsites only.  Any person who contravenes the regulation is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00. The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

3.  Camping is permitted in designated areas only.  Any person who contravenes this regulation and camp outside of the designated areas, is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

4.  Fires may  be started in the provided campfire pits only.  Any person who contravenes this regulation is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

5.  Litter to be placed in receptacles provided.  The provisions of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act Section 180, 2000 and amendments thereto, will apply to the enforcement of this regulation.

 

6.  Domestic pets must be kept on a leash at all times and must be limited to a maximum of two animals.  Any person who contravenes this regulation is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

7.  The firing off of firecrackers or fireworks is prohibited.  Any person who contravenes this regulation is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

8.  Discharging of hunting weapons, meaning any device that can be projected or fire a projectile and is primarily meant for killing wildlife, is prohibited.  Any person who contravenes this regulation is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

9.  Cutting, defacing or removal of plants or rocks is prohibited.  Any person who contravenes this regulation is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00. The fine for an offence under this  regulation may be paid voluntarily.

  

10.  Harassing of wildlife in any manner is prohibited.  Any person who contravenes this regulation is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

11.  Quiet hours are from 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. daily.  No person shall disturb the rest, peace or enjoyment of any other person at any time.  Any person who acts in any manner that is likely to disturb other people using the Park facilities is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than $100.00.  The fine for an offence under this regulation may be paid voluntarily.

 

12.  Anyone within the boundaries of Sunset Lake Park may be evicted by the Park Caretaker or other employees  of the Town of Wembley for just cause or during any time that the park is closed to the public.

 

This by-law shall take effect on final reading thereof and shall replace By-law No. 631.
