After careful consideration, the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, Towns of Beaverlodge, Wembley, and Sexsmith, and the Village of Hythe have all declared a State of Local Emergency pursuant to the Alberta Emergency Management Act.
By making this declaration, the six municipalities, through the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP), will have access to extraordinary powers that will assist in such measures as developing a plan to work with local retailers in managing distribution of goods, including food and household items, now and into the coming weeks if necessary.
