Town Clean Up Information

TOWN CLEAN UP

      

Town of Wembley Residents ONLY!!!

On SATURDAY only, September 13th*, 2025

PRAIRIE DISPOSAL will do a curbside pick-up starting at 8:00am.

 

     Items to be placed at the curbside boulevard area at a maximum of seven (7) days in advance. 

 The property owner must clean up any items left behind by Tuesday, September 16th, or face fines for violations of the Unsightly Premises Bylaw 695. 

Property Owners must keep their disposed items on the boulevard* and off the street or public sidewalks during the Town Clean Up event. 

*Boulevard area is the front yard approximately ten (10) feet (area) from curb.

Be mindful of the 3 feet (1 meter) clearance on all sides (re: piles near vehicles, or structure).

  

Multiple assigned PRAIRIE DISPOSAL trucks will pick up the following items:

  • Small furniture & small sofa/chairs: Must be under five feet long/wide & under 70lbs.
  • Normal household garbage: contained in bags, or boxes.
  • Wood products bundled into five (5) feet lengths or less, and under 70 lbs. (Unpainted/Unstained/Untreated wood to be bundled separately) Large amounts of fencing should be brought directly to the Clairmont landfill.
  • Items under 70 lbs. in weight, items under five (5) feet in height or wide. 
  • NO TOXIC Chemicals, No Motor Oil/Fuel, No Paint, No Batteries, No Propane Bottles, No Asphalt Shingles** (**roofing materials should be brought directly to the Clairmont landfill). 

 

LISTED BELOW IS WHAT MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE REFUSE BINS. Not for curbside.

BINS available September 12th & 13th, 2025 

REFUSE BINS are located at the Town’s Public Works Shop Yard 10207 97 Street

Shop Yard Gate Open: Friday 8am to 7pm / Saturday 9am to 4pm 

YOU MUST TAKE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS to the LARGE BINS:

Bin 1 – LARGE APPLIANCES: washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, fridge, freezer (cleared of food items)

Bin 2 – TIRES – without rims.

Bin 3 – ALL METAL: small appliance, microwave, vehicle parts, barbecue without tank

Bin 4 – ELECTRONICStelevision, computer, monitor, DVD player

Bin 5 – OVERSIZED OR OVERWEIGHT: misc. household garbage, large furniture, sofa, mattress…

ABSOLUTELY NO SHINGLES**, TOXIC CHEMICALS, MOTOR OIL/FUEL PAINT, BATTERIES

 OR PROPANE BOTTLES (**roofing materials should be brought directly to the Clairmont landfill).

(Toxic items will NOT be picked up and are NOT to be disposed of in the BINS)

*Seniors who cannot bring their large item to the bin can arrange for CURBSIDE pickup by request no later than September 8th by

 phoning 780-766-2269 or email info@wembley.caItem(s) must be at the property’s boulevard on Friday morning. 

Note: Town employees will not enter a dwelling to move large items.

 

Note: Branches and Grass Clippings can be brought at the Town Grass and Branch Bin 

(access located before the Town’s Public Works Yard gate). See map on page 2.

 

The West Grande Prairie Regional Landfill is currently being operated as a transfer station, it is free to Wembley residents. 

All loads must be unloaded by hand into bins. Currently closed until September 23, 2025. 

Location: From Hwy 672 Emerson Trail head North on Range Road 93. Map on page 2. 

Large loads may not be accepted and/or redirected to Clairmont Landfill. Before heading with a large load phone: 780-356-0007.

The Clairmont Landfill; household waste is free up to 1000kg. For larger loads fees may apply at the Clairmont Landfill

 (Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management).  Contact 780-567-4194 for any questions.

GRASS AND BRANCH – BIN

Open 24/7

Monitored.

 Paper yard bags allowed. Town’s Grass & Branch Compost Bin is not a bin for household garbage. 

No plastic garbage bags in BIN.

If caught disposing other, then non-noxious weed - grass or only branches you may be subject to fines. 

Branches or small trees (size “if you’re able to lift the small tree with one hand”)

(NO NOXIOUS Weeds Allowed)


Open when Bin is accessible (Weather pending - approx... Mid April to End September (mid October)) This will be updated on the

NOTE: 

  • The Large Item Refuse Bins will be monitored. Any unacceptable items will be turned away. 
  • Do not drop off items near the bins when they are closed. 
  • Do not contaminate the Large Item Refuse Bins with toxic waste. 

The outcome or success of the Large Refuse Bins will determine if this is a service the Town is able to offer to residents in future years.


NOTICE: To the residents with items on their boulevard. 

Items remaining on boulevard after town clean up didn’t qualify for Saturday’s curbside pickup. In the future, please refer to the information provided on the Town's website and Aquatera inserts as to what is permitted at the curb and what must be brought to the refuse bins. The remaining items are your responsibility to clean-up.
